Don't use this file. Use the one called "Excel" instead, which includes 2 classes. This file is for just one class.

Basic knowledge of Windows, the keyboard and mouse and basic typing skills.

Description:

This is an introduction course in Microsoft Office Excel 2007. The seminar is designed for the student to learn the basic ways to create and use spreadsheets and workbooks with MS Office Excel 2007. This seminar is a combination of lecture and student hands-on PC training. Student manuals and practice files will be provided.

This is NOT a beginner's class on the basics of the computer.

Goals:

  • what is a spreadsheet and workbook
  • how to create,use, navigate and save spreadsheets and workbooks
  • how to use "Help"
  • how to create and use Excel Templates
  • set the default options of a spreadsheet
  • the various "types" of data in a spreadsheet
  • understand absolute and relative cell references
  • how to format and size spreadsheet cells, rows and columns
  • how to format data within cells, rows and columns
  • how to move, copy and replicate data
  • how to create basic formulas
  • how to format and print a spreadsheet
  • how to create, format, and print reports
  • learn to hide, freeze, sort, filter, and protect spreadsheets and workbooks
