Know Your Digital Camera

Prerequisites:

Bring your digital camera, manual, charged battery, memory card, and cords that came with your digital camera.
If you wish to download your photos from your camera to a computer, you must have basic computer and mouse skills. You will learn (or review) how to create a file folder on your computer.

Description:

Learn the controls, functions and modes of your digital camera the easy way. If you want to learn how it "works" so you can take better photos, this is the class for you. All brands and manufacturers of cameras are welcome, but please bring the manual. This is a basic beginners class in the workings of your camera, not how to edit your photos. The class is hands-on using your camera. we will be taking photos in class so be sure to have space on your camera memory card.

This class is camera-oriented. It is NOT a beginner's class on the basics of the computer.

Goals:

  • Learn what program, aperture, shutter and manual functions do.
  • Learn how to control the flash
  • Learn how to change scene settings and modes for taking better photos.
  • Learn the differences in photo file formats and which ones can be used.
  • Learn how to set up your camera with date, time and quality of photo.
