Digital Photo Editing (four 2½-hour sessions)

Prerequisites:

Introductory skills, knowledge of the keyboard and mouse, typing skills, click and drag, some file and folder terminology, have photos on your computer, be able to bring photos to class on a CD.

Description:

This four-week hands-on class will show you the basics of "fixing" your photos after the shot. Basic adjustments like brightness and contrast, hue, saturation, red eye removal, scratch removal, and color will be explained and practiced. We will then get into more advanced features on photos like photo painting to resemble watercolors.

You will receive a practice CD with a variety of problem photos. We will fix them in class using free and commercial software (Picasa2, Adobe Elements, Corel Paint Shop Pro and Fo2Pix Photo Art Master).

This is NOT a beginner's class on the basics of the computer.

  • Learn the basics of photo editing and adjustments.
  • Learn the options available for darkroom techniques, special selections, and framing, etc.
  • Learn how to create special effects to resemble oil painting or watercolors.
  • Sample a variety of software applications -- free and commercial.
  • Learn printing techniques to obtain the best results in note cards, posters, and prints.
