The student should have basic computer skills and use of the the keyboard and mouse.
Description:
This seminar is for students who want to learn some of the functions and features of the free program Skype®. This seminar is a hands-on and the students will create their Skype account (if not already created) and call other students and the instruction in the classroom using a Skype connection.
Skype free lets one make Internet-based VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) video phone calls to anyone in the world who has Skype installed on their computer or mobile device. It is also possible to make voice-only conference phone calls to Skype users. Skype is an instant messenger application as well.
For a fee, one can make calls from a computer to landlines and cell phones worldwide; make video conference calls; and send Happy Birthday group sing along; among other fee functions.

- Download and install Skype
- Create a Skype account
- Configure the account to ensure privacy
- Search for other Skype users
- Add family and friends who have Skype installed to your personal contact list
- Initiate a video call
- Answer a video call
- Initiate a conference call
- Join a conference call
- Learn features and controls of Skype before and after calls
- Edit your profile
- Use Help
Bring your questions and time permitting, as many as possible will be answered.
